About Us
Jan Shanhun, ex-teacher and owner of Jan Shanhun Books has been supplying educational books and resources to schools for over 15 years. Jan, originally based in the Manawatu now resides in Gisborne where she and partner Matt also own the Poppies Bookshop.
As the New Zealand agent and workshop facilitator for BOXCARS Maths and dice games she runs workshops for teachers, parents and children in schools and at conferences. These games are multisensory and highly motivating and support the goals of the NZ numeracy framework.
Jan is passionate about assisting teachers make a difference in children's learning and to this end, accesses quality resources relevant to NZ Schools' curriculum needs from which teachers can then choose according to their individual school's resource requirements. She will pre-select resources according to the requests of teachers or librarians and then present those to the school, saving teachers considerable time.
